Peter William Lea – A Legacy in Theatre

Peter William Lea dedicated over three decades (1971–2004) to the world of live theatre, working across all aspects of the industry. His distinguished career included managing major theatres in Cardiff, Norwich, Eastbourne, Leicester, and Leatherhead, as well as directing productions and touring the UK with numerous No. 1 shows.

Following his retirement from full-time theatre management, Peter became a highly sought-after after-dinner and guest speaker. Renowned for his wit and captivating storytelling, he shared a wealth of anecdotes from his career — from unforgettable pantomime tales to behind-the-scenes insights of UK touring productions. His talks often included remarkable encounters with members of the Royal Family, including Princess Diana, Prince Charles, and Princess Margaret, as well as celebrated collaborations with international stars such as Eartha Kitt and Marlene Dietrich.

Peter’s ability to enthral audiences with his humour, passion, and remarkable experiences left a lasting impression wherever he spoke. Today, his legacy continues through his daughters, who honour his memory and lifelong dedication to entertainment through the work of PWL Management.
